Surfers checking out the swell, with surfers paddling out.

Wake up early and you shall be rewarded. Unfortunately, the clean conditions didn’t last, I was too busy doing my job taking pictures. The wind came on-shore by the time i got to the line up, plus i had to dash back to my wife who i had left behind in the tent.

Somewhere on the East Coast, (i know where and i’m sure the locals do to), not a bad start to the new year and for my first visit.

Merry Christmas all and have a happy New year. My new years resolution, post more :)

Dave Rastovich arrived into Raglan Harbor entrance and was greeted by fellow paddle boarders (any device which would float really), as he stepped onto to dry land, he bowed his head in respect as the Haka was performed in his honor. After pulling up his paddle-board he organised the people into a chant followed by a passionate talk in front of the media, all in aid of bringing awareness against the impact of seabed mining and the plight of the worlds smallest dolphin, the Maui, which has a predicted count of 55.

Slim pickings this year, not due to lack of Mo’s, but lack of surf, yet still manged to stop 5 surfers. There is a little bit of swell on the way so maybe another trip to the points will be in order.

Much to my wife’s dismay, i will be growing the Mo for Movember, which will also mean Movember Surfer project, will be back on at the end of the month, so get growing.

Must be a record, its taken seven years, if not more, to finish of a roll film, which was left and unloved in the old blad, while i have been converting to the dark-side of digital. The last shot felt good. Hopefully the next roll wont take so long.

I have been yearning to shoot film again, so with a new project idea (which i have been playing to do for the last ten years) the Old 500c Blad has come out of storage, which still has a roll of Provia still inside, with 6 shoots on, have no idea what they are. Hope i can still remember how to load one.

Night Time exposure here we come :) I may be smiling now, but i’m sure i won’t be when scanning them :) and then removing all the dust marks.

Tip of the day; don’t wear walking boots on slippery rocks, wear soft gum boots instead as...

Tip of the day; don’t wear walking boots on slippery rocks, wear soft gum boots instead as hard soles don’t grip on slippery rocks. I learnt this the hard way, thankfully Hasseblad camera still intact or just wear socks like one of the White Baiters were today (my favorite image from morning shoot). When i asked if i could shoot his socks he offered to show me his underwear as well.

First shoot of the new White Bait project is a success, some real characters. Just need the weather...

Last year i did a small project on an ex go-cart warehouse, which nature is now reclaiming as well as man. I have now got around to loading it up. Enjoy
