A different view of raglan, with rocks lots and lots of rocks, always makes getting in and out interesting, no matter what point your surfing.

I’m liking my closeups at the moment. Still playing around with different lighting techniques.

Dave Rastovich arrived into Raglan Harbor entrance and was greeted by fellow paddle boarders (any device which would float really), as he stepped onto to dry land, he bowed his head in respect as the Haka was performed in his honor. After pulling up his paddle-board he organised the people into a chant followed by a passionate talk in front of the media, all in aid of bringing awareness against the impact of seabed mining and the  plight of the worlds smallest dolphin, the Maui, which has a predicted count of 55.

Slim pickings this year, not due to lack of Mo’s, but lack of surf, yet still manged to stop 5 surfers. There is a little bit of swell on the way so maybe another trip to the points will be in order.

Whaingaroa Harbour (also known as Raglan Harbour) is under the fog. The fog was so thick it was like a water fall, with the fog cascading  of the cliffs.

I’ve been trying to get this image for a while. Not the safest of places to jump of, miss time and you wish you’d opted for the long swim round. I once broke my ribs miss timing this spot on a bigger day.
